All humans have the experience that they will forever remember. As for me, the best thing that had happened to my life is to be chosen to enter the 'Program Latihan Khidmat Negara' (PLKN). Initially I am frustrated and sad because the government chose me instead of other hundred thousands students but deep down in my heart I felt happy and I did not know why I felt like that. On 29th Dicember 2007 I departed to my training centre at Baling, Kedah. My feelings were mix at that time. There too many emotions in my heart and too many thoughts in my mind.
As I arrived, I was thinking about the three months that I will go through in this training centre. "Am I going to be train as a soldier and are the days will be like in hell everyday?", I said to myself. I kept thinking about things and what kind of persons will I meet. Luckily I met my schoolmate, Uzair is his name and he is such a kind and religious man. We were in the same training center and we talked with each other on the first day. We did not satisfied because of the fact we were chosen. Sigh...
As time passed by, little by little I started to enjoy the life as a trainee in this training center. I met many friends and they became my comrades . the things that we were trained in here are how to survive in the jungle and what to do if our country is attack and conquer. Other than that, we also learned march and 'Tempur Tanpa Senjata'(TTS). As I have some experiences in marching while at high school, I helped to train my friends and we got second place in marching competition. I was in the Charlie company or known as Harimau Baling. I am really proud of my company and myself because we get second place. Everyone was happy.
We also learned orienteering which is the activity to walk in the jungle guided only by a compass. We walked in the jungle in the day and night and it was an experience that I will never forget in my life. Besides that, we learned a lot of useful skills and things such as how to use flying fox, kayaking and how to handle a M16. Unfortunately, I did not get the opportunity to ride on the flying fox as I was to busy with the marching squad. Handling the M16 is the most valuable experience in my life. Not everyone has the opportunity to do what I did on that time. It was such a pleasure to fire the M16. The sensation of the recoil of the gun and the smell of the gunpowder at that time is the most best feeling I had ever had in my life. It was so sensational.
It was so fun until the very end. The last night at the training center perhaps was the best night we had ever had for the past 3 months as there performances from us but it was also the saddest when it comes to the time to say goodbye to my friends and the trainers especially Tok Misai. He is our head trainer and I will never ever forget him. Thank you Tok Misai also known as Cikgu Yusof. Thanks for everything. Kem Baling Berani will always be in my mind... T_T

I always have the opportunity to use the M16. Hehe. I wish we had PLKN during our time. We won't be boring doing nothing at home.
